Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation

The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (“the Forum”) was held in Beijing on 14 -15 May 2017. Themed "Strengthening International Cooperation and Co-building the 'Belt and Road' for Win-win Development", the Forum sought to discuss ways to boost cooperation, build cooperation platforms and share cooperation outcomes.

The Forum was attended by 29 heads of states and some 1,500 participants from over 130 countries. They included government officials, entrepreneurs, financiers and representatives of more than 70 international organisations.

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, led a cross-sector Hong Kong delegation, which included senior government officials and representatives from the financial sector, chambers of commerce and professional institutes, to attend the Forum on 14 May.

The Forum comprised mainly an opening ceremony, at which President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech, plenary session of high-level dialogue, and six parallel thematic sessions on 14 May, as well as a round-table leaders' summit which was presided by President Xi on 15 May.
